Rawhide twists for dogs

November 20, 2012 @ 2:49 pm posted by Bethaline

Ah, the holidays!  When turkey day comes around, one particular Thanksgiving comes to mind.  We had a great dog named Tinker.  She was a beagle/brittany mix, very smart.  That year my family were at my parents who lived in a small town.  Tinker, and the other dogs, were trolling for any food dropped.  After our dinner, we started playing games and most of the dogs zoned out.  Tinker went out to wander the neighborhood.

This small town had no fences between yards – pets were free to roam.  When Tinker did not return by early evening, Mom went out to look for her.  She found her out in the backyard, eating the last of the turkey off a carcass!  Mom was appalled!  However, as she had no idea where it came from, all she could hope was that Tinker’s theft had occurred AFTER the turkey had been enjoyed by the family that cooked it.

We never did find out whose turkey that had been, but Tinker was very thankful that Thanksgiving!  So be sure to have rawhide twists for dogs on holidays.  They are very filling and should keep your four-legged friends from a life of crime!

Anti-Bark Collars – Which One Is Right For You

October 10, 2012 @ 3:00 pm posted by Bethaline

It is so embarrassing to have a barking dog you cannot get to stop.  On the other hand, there are times you may want your dog to bark, especially if part of the reason you have a dog is for protection.  Or, as in my case, to let me know if something is not quite right in or around the house.  So deciding which of the anti-bark dog collars is the right one for you and Rover can be a big decision.

I recommend reading all of the material you can on the products that are available as well as articles on how to get the benefit you want out of these dog collars.  If you still want Rover to bark, your approach will be different than if you want him to stop barking altogether.  In short, it is more than just how you may or may not like how the dog collars look or feel.  And of course you never want to use a product that would hurt Rover.  Think about what you want it to achieve and work towards that when you decide which one you want to purchase.  Good luck!
